What are Wing Flaps?
These are hinged surfaces, usually at the trailing edge of the wing. When extended, wing flaps produce the same amount of lift at slower airspeed. These are used to increase wing lift and reduce take off distance. During landing, these increase the total drag of the wing when extended and reduce landing speed.
There are three types of wing flaps: split flaps, conventional flaps, and fowler flaps.
