What is Aircraft Lift?

Lift is the upward force acting on the aircraft. It is caused by the wings moving through the air, which sustains the airplane in flight.

This should not be confused with climb which is the ascending or descending movement of the aircraft. It is caused by the greater lift in contras to the weight.
